360˚ Feedback / Multi-Rater Instruments

While the right technical skills are necessary to do a job well, research has confirmed that these skills will not be optimized in the absence of complementary emotional competencies and behaviors that fit within the culture of the team or organization. Accordingly, we use research-based multi-rater assessments to create specific behavioral competency development roadmaps for individuals seeking to be more effective as leaders and team members.

The Hay Group’s Emotional and Social Competency Inventory (ESCI), based on Daniel Goleman’s work on Emotional Intelligence, is a multi-rater tool for leadership development. The ESCI profiles an individual’s strengths, as well as areas for growth relative to emotional competencies that research has shown to be necessary for good leadership, specifically in the areas of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management.

Human Synergistics® Life Styles Inventory™ (LSI) is a multi-rater assessment tool for professional growth and development that helps individuals strengthen behavioral styles that promote their effectiveness and moderate styles that prevent them from realizing their potential. Used in conjunction with individual coaching, the LSI offers invaluable and otherwise unavailable information to support self-development.

Individual and Team Awareness Instruments

KolbeMany conflicts in the workplace are a direct result of individuals imputing negative intentions to others’ behaviors (and taking things personally) that may be the result of differences in personality or approach to work. We facilitate team seminars designed to enhance awareness of self and others’ preferences and natural instincts for taking action, and through this greater understanding, help transform stressed relationships into an appreciation of the benefits of these differences.

The Kolbe Pure Instinct System® helps individuals become aware of and validate their natural instincts and unique talents for initiating action, responding to situations, and preventing problems. With this knowledge, teams can assess the instinctive talents of their members and better allocate (or reallocate) tasks to those individuals whose instincts are most suited to their completion. In this way, the Kolbe is an especially powerful tool for building synergistic teams that are effective and efficient in achieving their goals. We also recommend the Kolbe RightFit® for recruiting high potential employees.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI) is the most widely used tool in the world for understanding how personality differences affect the way people think, communicate and behave with one another. The indicator is nonjudgmental and allows people to gain an understanding of their motivations and preferences, particularly with respect to their source of mental energy (internally or externally focused), information-gathering approaches, decision-making processes, and general work patterns. Of value to both individuals and teams, the MBTI demonstrates the benefits of including different “personalities” and styles in the workplace.

All Kolbe and MBTI seminars are designed for the specific context of the client team or organization. During the seminar, the facilitator leads participants through a series of self-defining exercises to confirm results of the instrument (Kolbe or MBTI). Additional exercises related to the client's work environment and participants’ experiences are conducted, followed by in-depth discussion of the impact of differing instincts and preferences on the dynamics of the workplace. Where relevant, the seminar includes an analysis and assessment of team composition, as well as strategies for leveraging team strengths and shoring up team weaknesses.
